Great Field Piping Engineer with our Oil & Gas client in the Corpus Christi area.

Type: Contract to possible perm

Pay Rate: $55-$66/hr

Location: Portland, TX

Job Overview:

The Piping Field Engineer will report to the Lead Piping Field Engineer and is tasked with providing technical guidance and support to field supervisors during piping construction, installation, and testing activities across all relevant disciplines for designated equipment and materials. Depending on project demands, this role may also involve collaboration with the Pipe Testing team. Flexibility in schedule is essential, including availability for night shifts, split shifts, and day shifts as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct ongoing inspections and generate supporting documentation for all discipline system installations.
  • Aid field supervision in determining workforce, tools, equipment, and material needs for specific work tasks. Prepare both short-term and long-term schedules while coordinating with superintendents and other discipline field engineers. Execute field material takeoffs based on "Issued For Construction" drawings.

Piping Field Engineer Duties:

  • Contribute to quantity tracking systems and provide weekly reports on installed quantities to Project Controls. Create field material requisitions for equipment and materials, and oversee the status of purchase orders and deliveries.
  • Address design challenges and resolve issues with engineering and/or fabricators by adhering to formal field documentation procedures. Ensure that all installations comply with the most recent revisions of design drawings, specifications, standards, and codes.
  • Serve as the primary contact for coordinating and resolving technical matters with specific contractors on-site who deliver technical services related to the permanent plant piping systems scope of work.
  • Confirm and complete quality documentation in accordance with inspection and test plans. Conduct final system walk-downs, track deficiencies, and assist in project close-out.
  • Complete and review as-built documentation, and monitor actual work performance against the project budget and schedule.

Responsibilities Supporting Piping Testing May Include:

  • Assist with all activities linked to Testing, Flushing, Hydro-jetting, Bore scoping, Blowing/Drying, Cleanliness, and Restoration. Support the development, review, approval, and issuance of Pneumatic, Hydrostatic, Service, and Visual test packages. Aid in verifying and witnessing test acceptance.
  • Oversee and maintain a master set of Test Package PIDs. Identify, procure, implement controls, and track materials and equipment for piping tests.
  • Conduct Pneumatic and hydrostatic pressure tests; review and approve Inspection and Test Plans related to Pipe Testing and Cleanliness.
  • Support the establishment of testing procedures for piping systems.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree) in Engineering or Construction Management, combined with 5-8 years of relevant experience, or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Construction experience on-site.
  • Experience in heavy industrial direct-hire construction relevant to the project scope.
  • Familiarity with engineering and construction methods and processes acquired through specialized training or practical experience.
  • Proven ability to motivate and engage team members positively in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, especially in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and other common construction industry applications.
  • Experience working on LNG construction sites, particularly in the U.S. Gulf Coast region, with expertise in managing subcontracts for technical services.
  • Understanding of relevant Company work processes, including Standard Work Process Procedures.
  • Familiarity with Company Standard Applications (BSAPs) such as Setroute, Unifier, Aconex, DSCS, PTR, Agile, Navisworks, and other automation tools used in Company projects.
