Job Title: PLC Technician

Salary: $40/hour+

Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and proactive PLC Technician to join our team. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for designing, programming, repairing, and maintaining programmable logic controller (PLC) systems used within our facilities. As a key member of the team, you will ensure equipment operates efficiently, perform preventative maintenance, and support advanced production equipment repairs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Adhere to all health and safety policies/procedures, GMPs, and required PPE while working.
• Ensure food quality and safety standards are met as per established protocols.
• Lead and support troubleshooting during equipment failures, working with the production team to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.
• Maintain, test, and upgrade all production equipment, including installing new manufacturing, packaging, and processing systems.
• Troubleshoot PLC and automation systems, identifying and addressing faulty components, wiring, and electrical failures.
• Calibrate and test equipment to meet performance specifications.
• Assist in PLC system upgrades and improvements to enhance production efficiency and safety.
• Modify PLC programs to optimize systems and improve safety protocols.
• Maintain records of maintenance, repairs, and system upgrades.
• Train team members on basic PLC functions and troubleshooting.
• Participate in preventive maintenance activities and mechanical maintenance as needed.
• Foster a continuous improvement culture while ensuring safe workplace practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve system reliability and reduce costs.

Required Skills:

• Proficient in using RS Logix 5000, RS Logix 500, or RS Logix 5 software for machine troubleshooting.
• Ability to connect to Control Logix, Compact Logix, SLC500, or PLC5 using Ethernet I/P, DH+, or RS232 and download PLC programs.
• Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
• Experience using multimeters and working with control panels up to 480VAC.
• Understanding of P&ID symbols and line layout drawings.
• Experience replacing and configuring AB Powerflex 40, 400, 525, and Yaskawa VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives).
• Knowledge of replacing Panelview and Panelview Plus devices and downloading applications with Panelbuilder 32 or RS View Studio Machine Edition.
• Ability and enthusiasm for ongoing technical skill development.

Education and Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial manufacturing maintenance.
• Rockwell Maintainer or equivalent Certificate is preferred; must be obtained within the first 24 months of employment if not already held.
• Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs is required.
• Strong electrical and electronic troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Maintenance Skills Assessment will be required for consideration.
