JOB DESCRIPTION :
The Supervisor plans, organizes, schedules, and directs the Pre-Analytical department to meet established turnaround time and maintain budget. Provides direct on-site supervision of the day-to-day operation including adjustment of workforce scheduling, specimen workflow, quality, compliance, and adherence to department/company policies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education: High School/equivalent required. (College degree a plus).
2. Excellent organizational, communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
3. Minimum 3 years clinical laboratory experience in supervisory role (Pre-Analytical Experience preferred).
4. Experience with production workflow management.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Devotes time to evaluate specimen workflow to maintain adequate turnaround time and improve shift/employee productivity
2. Maintain adequate staffing by interviewing, hiring, training, and performing the competency.
3. Perform the scheduling, planning, staffing, and monitoring of workflow based on specimen delivery flow to meet established goals.
4. Provide employee development.
5. Procure appropriate department supplies.
6. Provides supervision and leads the Pre-Analytical Department.
7. Serve as a resource for problem solving and process improvement of all established goals.
8. Investigates and documents non-conforming events as necessary.
9. Recommends process improvement ideas.
10. Uses effective two-way communication with employees and management.
11. Supports, implements, and ensures compliance with all department/company policies.
12. Monitors and ensures implementation of processes to meet established goals.
13. Ensures compliance by conducting audits.
14. Interacts with internal and external customers to ensure proper specimen handling.
15. Participates in the updating of departmental standard operating procedures to accurately reflect the current practices.
16. Reviews employee timecards for attendance and overtime.
17. Motivates and develops staff. Coordinates training and feedback for employee development.
