The Idaho Transportation Department’s (ITD) District 3 Traffic Section is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager 1 to join our team in District 3 - Boise, Idaho . We are looking for a transportation professional who thrives in an innovative and collaborative work environment. You will play a key role in managing transportation projects that improve safety and mobility for ITD employees, contractors, and the traveling public. This position involves working closely with various state, federal, and private organizations, requiring strong project management skills and the ability to work independently to achieve goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and administer ITIP projects associated with traffic through the Statewide Implementation Agreement (SIA) program
  • Review design plans from the ITIP program, providing comments on striping, signing, traffic control plans, and overall safety considerations
  • Respond to inquiries from internal staff, external agencies, and the public regarding traffic operations and safety on Idaho’s state highways
  • Identify traffic safety needs and proactively develop solutions to improve state highways
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and its application

Experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • Planning and implementing projects including coordinating the development of project scope, goals, work plans, timelines, implementation strategies, and measurement processes/methods for assessing progress toward goals and project outcomes
  • Interpreting and explaining specialized or complex material into information usable by the public
  • Developing and monitoring contracts -Typically this is met by at least one year of professional experience developing contract conditions and monitoring them for compliance. This would involve working with people to develop contracts that spelled out specific goals and objectives and evaluating activities for compliance


Desired Qualifications

  • MicroStation Experience
  • Traffic Control Supervisor Certification
  • Extensive background working with the MUTCD and applying it to highways
