Role: Solar Technician

Location: Charlottesville, VA Area (Central VA)

Compensation: $50,000 to $70,000 per year ($25 to $35 per hour)

Job Overview

Our client, an established and growing regional energy company based in Virginia, is looking to hire an exceptional Solar Technician to be a key member of the Operations and Maintenance team within their solar division. This hire will be pivotal in supporting our client's growing volume of residential and commercial solar service and maintenance requests. This is a full-time role with our client.

Job Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, and/or maintaining commercial and residential solar equipment, including (but not limited to): modules, optimizers, inverters, etc.
• Traveling to customer locations across the central Virginia area
• Communicating effectively with customers and managing customer expectations
• Ensuring all safety standards are met and adhered to
• Ensuring compliance with the National Electrical Code, site-specific safety plans, and other applicable laws, codes, regulations, and industry standards
• Attending company meetings and training sessions
• Selling additional services to customers when applicable
• Maintaining the service vehicle

Successful Candidates Must Have:

• At least 3 years of combined experience with the installation of both commercial and residential solar projects
• At least 2 years of combined experience with the troubleshooting and repair of both commercial and residential solar installations
• Experience with conduit bending, wire pulling, testing and termination
• Experience with equipment and instruments used for commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting electrical and IT related systems, including (but not limited to): digital multimeters, ammeters, voltmeters, megohmmeters, curve tracers, infrared imaging tools, and digital thermometers
• Knowledge of the federal and local requirements pertaining to photovoltaic electric systems
• Best practice knowledge for roofing, mechanical fastening, electrical bonding and termination, trenching and excavation, and concrete
• The ability to work at heights and in extreme environments
• The ability to lift heavy materials up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time
• A valid driver’s license and a clear criminal/civil background check, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations

Compensation

This Solar Technician role has a wage of $50,000 to $70,000 per year ($25 to $35 per hour)
