Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer - Welder with Design Experience

Location: Onsite

Job Type: Full-Time

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Welder with strong design skills to play a key role in our metal fabrication processes. This position is ideal for a hands-on professional with expertise in MIG & TIG welding, sheet metal fabrication, and CNC programming who also has experience with designing and troubleshooting metal components using SolidWorks. Instead of a four-year degree, we are looking for someone with real-world experience in fabrication, welding, and design.

Key Responsibilities:

Welding & Fabrication

• Perform MIG & TIG welding on sheet metal and structural steel components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and weld symbols to ensure accuracy in production.
• Work with lasers, CNC turret punch presses, rolling, forming/press brakes, and assembly to support fabrication processes.
• Assist with reverse engineering of customer samples for modifications and improvements.
• Ensure weld quality and conduct inspections to meet customer and industry standards.

Design & Engineering Support

• Create and modify SolidWorks 3D models for metal fabrication projects.
• Develop flat blank layouts, BOMs, and process sheets to optimize production efficiency.
• Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot and improve manufacturing processes .
• Assist in estimating material and labor costs for new projects.
• Support the selection and implementation of new equipment and tooling to improve productivity.

Quality & Process Improvement

• Monitor and adjust process parameters to ensure consistent weld quality and part accuracy .
• Work closely with engineering and quality teams to resolve fabrication and welding issues .
• Implement 5S and Lean Manufacturing initiatives to improve workflow and efficiency.

Customer & Team Collaboration

• Work directly with customers to develop and refine product designs for manufacturability .
• Support orders throughout the fabrication process, ensuring project timelines and quality expectations are met.
• Provide technical input on design changes and cost-saving opportunities .

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience: 5+ years in welding, metal fabrication, and design .
• Technical Expertise:
• Proficient in MIG & TIG welding on various metals.
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and weld symbols .
• Hands-on experience with SolidWorks (or similar CAD software) for designing metal parts and assemblies.
• Understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, CNC programming, and machine operation .
