Performs skilled mechanical work in heavy equipment and motor vehicle maintenance. This position works under the direct supervision of the LL Maintenance Heavy Equipment Supervisor or Light Duty Equipment Supervisor. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may receive occupational exposures to ionizing radiation that are As Low As is Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) and within regulatory limits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Performs repairs to vehicle, heavy equipment and other equipment including computerized automotive systems as assigned through work orders.
Performs preventative and scheduled maintenance on vehicles, heavy equipment, motors and other equipment, as assigned.
Maintains records on operation and repair of vehicles, heavy equipment, motors and other equipment, as assigned.
Cleans shop, offices, vehicles, heavy equipment, motors and other equipment, as necessary.
Reports any and all shop area hazards to the Supervisor.
Apply and reinforce the skills learned through human performance training to prevent personal errors and errors by other team members
Performs other related work activities as required.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two (2) years experience in automotive and/or heavy equipment repairs for both gasoline and/or diesel engines; pumps; compressors; and other rotating equipment or equivalent combination of education and experience. Considerable knowledge of preventative maintenance and general repair of motor vehicles, heavy equipment and mechanized equipment preferred.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in the English language. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Familiar with standard and metric measurement systems.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
